About
Nice to meet you! I'm

Christa, A UX Designer with backgrounds in industrial design and architecture.

I take immense enjoyment and satisfaction from noodling through multi-faceted problems, from user research to ideation to wireframing and prototyping; the more complicated, the more fun! I believe that empathizing with the user and storytelling are the key aspects of design that really elevate the emotional connection between users, products, and stakeholders. As a UX Designer I consider both to be my strengths, but I'm always looking to learn something new from others. I love working with people; I hope to keep meeting peers, mentors, and clients alike to understand their unique perspectives and help me grow as a designer and as a human.

How did I get here?

When I started in Architecture, I was taught that the building's design should direct people or else they wouldn't know how to flow through it correctly. I had to create spaces that clearly defined their intended use with differences in form, material, lighting, placement, and scale. Then I discovered Industrial Design, where I learned the opposite mindset in that the product's users should inform its design. I dove into new considerations like ergonomics, how a soft toy would feel in a child's hand, body and developmental limitations, and what shapes would be understood as not only interaction points, but what to do with them. Flash forward a couple years and the landscape has evolved into a world where physical products and digital interactions are more closely linked than ever. That evolution and the impact it's had on people has been fascinating to experience, and has naturally led me to UX. Now I combine both schools of thought to find solutions that guide users while making their experiences intuitive and approachable.

What do I do for fun?

I like to dabble in lots of things! But my most common hobbies are bouldering, playing tabletop games, baking sweets, and yelling at my cats Donut and Poptart.
